Access to Wilson Island is via Heron Island

Return transfers from Heron to Wilson are included in the package price for all Wilson Island guests. However, transfers from Gladstone to Heron Island are additional and not included in the tariff.

ACCESS TO HERON ISLAND (Via Gladstone)

Air Connections Via Gladstone with QantasLink. A 30 minute helicopter flight from Gladstone Airport to Heron Island is operated by Australian Helicopters. Baggage allowance for helicopter transfers is limited to one suitcase and one small carry-on item of hand luggage. A limit of 15kg per person applies. Excess luggage storage available at the airport free of charge.

Sea Connections

A courtesy coach departs from Gladstone Airport 10.15am daily to Gladstone Marina, to connect with the Heron Island boat transfer service. Regular flights are available from all capital cities to Gladstone. The boat transfer departs Gladstone Marina at 11.00am and returns at 3.45pm. There are no boat transfers on Christmas day. The trip from Gladstone to Heron Island takes approximately 2 hours each way.

ACCESS TO WILSON ISLAND (Via Heron Island)

Wilson Island is a 45 minute boat transfer from Heron Island. To assist in maintaining the pristine environment of the Cay there are no jetty facilities with transfers ashore undertaken by way of a small tender vessel.

Transfer times between Heron and Wilson Islands at the commencement (Friday) and completion (Monday) of your Wilson Island Experience are subject to tide and weather conditions, and may vary accordingly.

In rare instances of extreme weather conditions, access to Wilson Island may be restricted and as a result of this, Voyages reserves the right to suspend or postpone the Wilson Island Experience due to safety considerations. In these circumstances, alternate accommodation, activities and dining options will be arranged on Heron Island.

TRANSFERS NOW DAILY

Please note that now that Wilson Island is on a daily transfer basis, timing of transfers from the mainland to Heron Island is very important. The Arrivals transfer to Wilson Island departs Heron Island at 3:00pm each day. Guests who arrive from Gladstone via the launch have a short turn around to prepare for next transfer with the assistance of our Guest Liaison. Guests who wish to arrive on Heron by helicopter must arrive no later than 1:30pm Heron Island Time (12:30pm E.S.T.) This will ensure they have time to meet our Guest Liaison and prepare for the next transfer.
